Fraud Alert: Global Payments Credit Card Processor BreachApril 6, 2012 Due to the data breach at Global Payments Inc., a credit card processor, we advise members to be on the alert for any suspicious e-mails (phishing), text messages (SMiShing), or phone calls (vishing) requesting personal or financial information, especially card data. This includes, your billing address, 3 digit security code found on the back of the card, or enrollment criteria/passwords for Verified by Visa. If you do receive any of these communications in regards to your Provident Visa cards, do not respond and report them to us immediately at (800) 632-4600 or (650) 508-0300. Until we can determine if any of our members' Provident credit or debits cards were impacted by this situation, here are some suggestions:
Provident — and any other legitimate financial institution or business — will never contact you to request personal or financial information. If you do become a victim of fraud or provide information in response to an unsolicited request, promptly take the following steps:
