Congratulations to This Year's All-Star Teacher Dr. Paul Ricks!

The 2012 All-Star Teacher Dr. Paul Ricks says it was a nerve-wracking experience, but a win over the Dodgers would make it a perfect day. Plus, he won a $20,000 grant for Hopkins Junior High School in Fremont!

Heidi Parks, Provident Credit Union Vice President of Marketing; Dr. Ricks; Jeremy Affeldt, San Francisco Giants pitcher; Micah Hawk, Vice President of Human Resources, Comcast California; and Ted Griggs, Vice President and General Manager, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area presented the $20,000 check during an on-field ceremony prior to a San Francisco Giants/Los Angeles Dodgers game at AT&T Park. Provident, in partnership with Comcast SportsNet, sponsored the award, which is in its sixth year. The award recognizes middle and high school teachers in Northern and Central California for their extraordinary dedication to their students and significant presence within their respective communities. With more nominations than ever before, five finalists were selected by a panel of community leaders. Members of the public voted for the finalists online and Dr. Ricks emerged the winner.

We would also like to recognize the runners-up: Ronnie Cato, Todd Higashi, Claudia Natale, and April Silva. Each of them won a $2,000 grant for their schools.
