Expert Interview: Variable-Rate Visa Cards

We recently updated our Visa card program to offer you more choices and better value. David Herrera, VP of Lending, explains the new options and improvements.

How has the Visa card program changed?

We’ve streamlined it to offering three cards and the option to choose earning Reward points on purchases or receiving a rate reduction on our already low variable rate.

Which Visa cards do you now offer?

We offer Provident Visa, College Visa and Share-Secured Visa. All three cards come with the option to choose earning Reward points or receiving a rate reduction.

Do all the cards have the same features?

Yes — all cards feature a low variable rate, no annual fee and a 25-day grace period on purchases. New cardholders will enjoy a 2% rate reduction on purchases for the first six months. You can also receive transaction alerts via text or e-mail and take advantage of the benefits of our free CardLock fraud prevention service.

Has the Rewards program changed as well?

No. You still earn one point for every dollar charged and you can redeem them for travel or merchandise through the CURewards Web site.

How do I know which option to choose?

Here are two things to consider: if you pay your balance off every month, you may want to consider the Rewards card. If you carry a balance, you may benefit from a lower rate. If you have more questions on which option is better for you, feel free to contact us so we can help.

Can I switch later if I decide I’d rather have the other option?

Yes! Just give us a call at (800) 632-4600 or stop by any of our branches to make your request.
