Redwood Shores, CA – May 24, 2007:

On June 9th the Education Coalition for Hispanics in Oakland (ECHO) and the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) is holding the 7th Annual Latino Honor Roll Celebration.  Approximately 1,700 Latino students will be awarded certificates of outstanding academic. Awards are presented each year to students who have achieved and maintained a 3.0 GPA or better within Oakland public middle and high schools.  The ceremony takes place at the Cesar Chavez Educational Center, 2825 International Boulevard, Oakland, California.   

Provident Credit Union President, Wayne Bunker explains that “with all the recent challenges facing Oakland schools, we want to show our support for the Oakland community and students. We believe education is critical in creating a vibrant and strong community and we want to recognize the achievements of these students.”
