Apple Pay 

Use Apple Pay to make purchases with your Provident Visa credit and debit cards on your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or in-app.

Apple Pay What's Required?

  • iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, or later (pay in stores and within apps)
  • iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3, and later (pay within apps)
  • Apple Watch paired with iPhone SE, iPhone 5, and later (pay in stores)
  • Device is up is to date with the latest operating system (iOS)
  • Touch ID or passcode on your device
  • An Apple ID signed in to iCloud

Add your Provident card

To set up and use Apple Pay with your Apple Watch, visit the Apple site.

On your iPhone or iPad, follow these steps to add your Provident card:

  1. On your iPhone, open Wallet. On your iPad, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay.
  2. Tap Add Credit or Debit Card.
  3. Use the camera to capture the information on your Provident credit or debit card. Then fill in any additional information needed.
  4. Tap Next. Provident will begin to verify your card. If necessary, Provident may ask you to verify your identity by using one of the following methods:
    1. Text Message: You will receive an automated text message containing a one-time passcode. You must then enter in this one-time passcode within your digital wallet enrollment screen to confirm your identity.
    2. Email: You will receive an automated email containing a one-time passcode. You must then enter in this one-time passcode within your digital wallet enrollment screen to confirm your identity.
    3. Call Provident: If you are presented with this option, you will be prompted to contact Provident at (855) 553-4291. Please note, upon contacting Provident Credit Union you will be asked various security questions to confirm your identity. Once confirmed, we will proceed with activating your Apple Pay enrollment.
  5. After your card is verified, you can start using your Provident card with Apple Pay. To make your Provident card your default payment card, go to Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay > Default Card.

Simple to Use Pay Wave

Pay in stores with iPhone or Apple Watch. You don't have to open the Wallet app to make a purchase.

  • With your finger on Touch ID, hold your iPhone near the contactless reader. A subtle vibration and sound will confirm that your payment information was sent.
  • To use an Apple Watch, double‑click the side button and put the face of your Apple Watch near the contactless reader. A gentle pulse and tone lets you know your transaction took place.

Pay within apps.

  • Use iPhone, iPad Pro, iPad Air, or iPad mini.
  • Choose the Apple Pay option and place your finger on Touch ID.

Samsung Pay 

With your Samsung Galaxy device, Samsung Pay is accepted virtually anywhere you can swipe or tap your Provident Visa credit and debit cards.

Samsung Pay What's Required?

  • A compatible Samsung device
  • One of these carriers: AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, or U.S. Cellular
  • A Samsung account
  • A registered fingerprint or Samsung Pay PIN

Getting Started

  1. Visit samsung.com for instructions.

Add your Provident card

  1. Launch the Samsung Pay app.
  2. Touch ADD or, if this is the first payment card being added, touch Add a credit card or debit card.
  3. Align your card inside the frame to automatically detect the card number and expiration date.
  4. Enter the remaining information and touch NEXT.
  5. Agree to the terms and conditions.
  6. If necessary, Provident may ask you to verify your identity by using one of the following methods.
    1. Text Message: You will receive an automated text message containing a one-time passcode. You must then enter in this one-time passcode within your digital wallet enrollment screen to confirm your identity.
    2. Email: You will receive an automated email containing a one-time passcode. You must then enter in this one-time passcode within your digital wallet enrollment screen to confirm your identity.
    3. Call Provident: If you are presented with this option, you will be prompted to contact Provident at (855) 553-4291. Please note, upon contacting Provident Credit Union you will be asked various security questions to confirm your identity. Once confirmed, we will proceed with activating your Samsung Pay enrollment.
  7. After verifying your identity select SUBMIT.
  8. Use your finger or a stylus to enter your signature and touch SAVE.
  9. Touch DONE to complete the process.
  10. Provident will verify your card, which can take up to 10 minutes.
  11. After your card is verified, you can start using your Provident card with Samsung Pay.

Simple to Use

Samsung Pay does not require a contactless payment terminal. It can be used almost anywhere you can swipe your Provident Visa.

  1. Swipe up to launch the app.
  2. Secure with your fingerprint or PIN.
  3. Hover over the card reader to pay.

Google Pay 

Add your Provident Visa credit and debit cards to almost any Android phone to make purchases in-store and in-app.

Google Pay What's Required?

  • Android phone running Kit Kat (4.4) or higher
  • Phone needs to support NFC (Near Field Communication) and HCE (Host Card Emulation), which can be checked in Settings > More

Getting Started

  1. To start using Google Pay™, open the app and follow the setup instructions.
  2. If you're not using a screen lock on your device yet, you'll have to set one up to use Google Pay.

Add your Provident card

  1. Launch the Google Pay app.
  2. If you have multiple Google Accounts in Google Pay: At the top left of the app, touch your name, then choose the account you want to add a card to.
  3. At the bottom right, touch the plus sign +.
  4. Touch "Add a credit or debit card".
  5. Use the camera to capture your card info or enter it manually.
  6. If necessary, Provident may ask you to verify your identity by using one of the following methods.
    1. Text Message: You will receive an automated text message containing a one-time passcode. You must then enter in this one-time passcode within your digital wallet enrollment screen to confirm your identity.
    2. Email: You will receive an automated email containing a one-time passcode. You must then enter in this one-time passcode within your digital wallet enrollment screen to confirm your identity.
    3. Call Provident: If you are presented with this option, you will be prompted to contact Provident at (855) 553-4291. Please note, upon contacting Provident Credit Union you will be asked various security questions.
  7. After your card is verified, you can start using your Provident card with Google Pay. To make your Provident card your default payment card, double tap your Provident card, then touch "Set as default card".

Simple to Use

  • Wake up and unlock your phone.
  • Hold the back of your phone against the contactless payment terminal.
  • If prompted, choose "Credit" regardless of your type of card.

Pay within apps.

  • At checkout, touch the Google Pay purchase button.
  • You may be prompted to select a payment method and enter your shipping address before confirming your order.
